The main symptoms of broken foot are:

  • Throbbing pain on the foot;
  • Swelling in the region;
  • Pain when walking;
  • Discoloration or purple spot the bluish on the finger;
  • Difficulty in bending the toe;
  • Finger of the foot numb or tingling.

In some cases, foot finger may also have loss of sensitivity or be deformed.

What to do

The treatment indicated by the doctor for the broken foot includes:

  • Manipulation, which is made in an office with local anesthesia, for cases of finger bone outside the place or deformed;
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs and oral painkillerslike ibuprofen, acetaminophen and naproxen;
  • Immobilizationusing splint, plaster or orthopedic boot, which can be recommended for metatarsal bone fractures;
  • Surgerywhere the doctor can place pins or plates to hold bones during healing, indicated in cases of exposed fracture or multiple fractures, for example.

Some personal care that is also recommended are resting, applying ice compresses for 10 to 20 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day, and keeping your foot high above heart level height to help disinhole.

Broken foot recovery time

Broken foot recovery time can last between 6 to 8 weeks. However, recovery can also take longer, according to the type of fracture.

The doctor will inform when the person can resume everyday activities and the practice of physical activities. This is because returning to usual activities before full recovery can cause new injuries.
