5 natural laxatives for babies and children

The main natural laxatives for babies and children are:

1. Plum water

Plum water helps moisturize feces and stimulate the natural movements of the intestine, fighting constipation in babies over 6 months or children.

Ingredients:

  • 1 dry -free plum;
  • 80 ml of filtered or boiled water.

Preparation mode:

Chop the dry plum into small pieces and place them in a cup with the water. Cover and let stand all night in the refrigerator.

The next day, ½ (half) tablespoon of plum water to the baby can be given in the morning for 3 days.

2. Fig and plum syrup

Fig and plum syrup is suitable for Children over 3 years old.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of chopped figs with shell;
  • 1/2 cup of chopped plums;
  • 2 cups of water;
  • 1 tablespoon of molasses.

Preparation mode:

Put the figs, plums and water in a pan and let stand for about 8 hours. Then bring the pan to the heat, add the molasses and boil for a few minutes, until the fruits soften and the excess water evaporates.

Remove from heat, beat everything in a blender and store in a glass jar with a lid, which has been sterilized in boiling water for 10 minutes.

You can take 1 tablespoon of syrup per day whenever there is need.

3. Oatmeal porridge

Oatmeal porridge is rich in fiber that helps improve the baby’s intestinal transit from 6 months and the child.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of fine flake oats;
  • 100 ml of breast milk or formula;
  • A little filtered water;
  • ½ (half) crushed banana (optional).

Preparation mode:

Put the oats and some filtered water in a pan and bring to low heat to completely soften the oats. Then take out of fire and mix breast milk or formula, mixing well until pope consistency.

To naturally sweeten porridge, you can mix half a crushed banana.

In babies over 1 year, cow’s milk can be used.

You can offer porridge oats to the baby or child when porridge is cooled.

4. Orange and plum juice

Orange and plum juice is also a good natural laxative option for babies and children.

Ingredients:

  • 50 ml of orange lime juice;
  • 1 Black plum without a pit and previously sanitized.

Preparation mode:

Add orange juice and black plum in a blender and beat until liquid.

For children over 1 year, give juice once a day, for a maximum of 3 consecutive days. If constipation persists, one must speak to the pediatrician.

For babies less than 6 to 12 months, 10 to 30 spoons (tea) should be offered only of the orange lime juice.

5. Pear puree

The pear is also a fruit rich in water and fiber, which form a gel in the intestine, increasing the volume of stools and stimulating the natural movements of the intestine, being a good natural laxative option for constipation in the baby or child.

Ingredients:

  • 1 mature pear, washed in advance;
  • 150 ml of filtered or mineral water.

Preparation mode:

Peel the pear and cut into small pieces. Then place the pear and water in a pan and bring to low heat for about 15 minutes.

Then knead the pear well, wait for it to cool and offer the baby over 6 months or children.
