Edistride: What is it for, how to take it and side effects

Edistride is a remedy indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, heart failure or chronic kidney disease, as it contains dapagliflozine in its composition.

This medicine helps to control blood sugar levels, and increases in the elimination of water through the urine, favoring the function of the kidneys and hearts.

Edistrid is found in the form of 10 mg tablets and should be used with medical indication and regular medical follow -up.

Edistrid is indicated for the treatment of:

  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus;
  • Heart failure;
  • Chronic kidney disease.

The edistrid can also be indicated to avoid the development or worsening of heart failure, cardiovascular death or kidney disease in people with type 2 diabetes.

This medicine should be used with an indication of endocrinologist, cardiologist or nephrologist to assess the effectiveness of treatment and the emergence of side effects.

Is edistrid the same as a forxiga?

The edistrid and the forxiga have the same active ingredient, dapagliflozine.

However, edistrid is available only at the 10 mg dose, while the forxiga can also be found at the 5 mg dose.

How to take

The edistrid should be taken orally before or after a meal at any time of the day as indicated by the doctor.

Edistride 10 mg

Adult dosage is 1 tablet of edistrid 10 mg, once a day, or as directed by medical advice.

For the treatment of type 2 diabetes, edistrid can be used alone or in association with other antidiabetics, to have better blood glucose control.

In cases of heart failure or chronic kidney disease, the doctor should recommend other treatments for these conditions, along with the use of edistrid.

Possible side effects

The most common side effects of edistrid are:

  • Vaginal candidiasis or on the penis;
  • Back pain;
  • Willingness to urinate very often or increased the amount of urine;
  • Changes in cholesterol or blood fat levels;
  • Dizziness;
  • Red spots or blisters on the skin.

In addition, dehydration, weight loss, constipation, increased creatinine and urea, kidney inflammation or hypoglycemia may also emerge.

The edistrid can also cause urinary infections, angioedema, diabetic ketacity, perineum necrotic fasciitis, severe allergic reactions or anaphylaxis.

Who should not use

The edistrid should not be used for type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketacity or in cases of people who have severe kidney problems or frequent urinary tracts.

People with allergies to Dapagliflozine or other components of the tablet, as well as under 18 years old and pregnant women in the 2nd or 3rd quarters of pregnancy, should not use edistrid.

During pregnancy or breastfeeding and in the case of people using other medicines, edistrid should only be used if indicated by the doctor.
