The vessels permeate the entire human body, so the failure that occurs due to their poor work can affect any organ. What signals cannot be ignored, Aif.ru told Endovascular surgeon, children’s endovascular surgeon, head of the department of X -rayendovascular methods of diagnosis and treatment, candidate of medical sciences Ashot Grigoryan.

Our body sends us a mass of “bells” daily, with the help of which he hopes to reach us and convince us to take the necessary measures: to finally sleep, take a vacation, improve nutrition, increase water consumption and reduce caffeine and alcohol consumption, quit smoking, start doing charging, and maybe sign up for a doctor. However, adults, as a rule, ignore all these signals. We believe that we will lie down, rest, and everything will pass. And, indeed, as a rule, at first, poor health itself goes away, and we are again ready to start work. Alas, such an attitude towards himself will not bring to good. Therefore, each of us needs to be able to read the tips that the body sends us, and navigate what this or that symptom is talking about, and how dangerous it is.

Doesn’t hurt, and okay?

Each organ has its own clinical signs of the disease. Let’s start with the main one-with the heart, because it is coronary heart disease that remains leading among all cardiovascular diseases, which, as you know, are leading among the causes of the mortality of the population.

“In most cases, the main complaint with atherosclerotic damage to the vessels of the heart is pressing and burning pains behind the sternum. That is, angina pectoris, ”the expert says. – These pains do not appear on their own, but in response to physical activity – climbing the stairs or walking on a flat surface. Unfortunately, there are a group of patients in whom myocardial ischemia is not manifested by classic pain. This is the so -called group of patients with a painless form of myocardial ischemia, and it is the most dangerous. ”

In such patients, according to Grigoryan, symptoms are either not at all, or there are equivalents of pain behind the sternum – for example, shortness of breath that appears when moving and forces a person to periodically take a pause and rest.

Wait, not so fast

Ichemic heart disease has its own stages of development. At 1 stage, or as it is customary to say with doctors – the first functional class, these manifestations occur only after a person passes at a fast pace of at least 500 meters or without a stop will rise to the 4th floor. That is, such a person lives on the third floor, or uses an elevator, and practically does not walk on foot, but moves to the car that his heart needs help, he may not guess for a long time. Moreover, it is worth a little rest, and the pain syndrome and shortness of breath pass. Since they are stopping at rest, and this forces you to miss the first preventive calls of the body. Meanwhile, the disease progresses, and the angina class increases.

In the second stage, clinical manifestations begin to bother with only 200 meters or less. And then pain and shortness of breath appear alone. And in this case, rest always helps restore. Ignoring pain behind the sternum can lead to the development of myocardial infarction with unpredictable consequences.

Not just migraine

Vessels supplying blood and oxygen brain are also at risk of atherosclerotic lesion. But which of us turns to a neurologist, and even more so undergoes a survey of the vessels of the brain whenever he is worried about a headache or dizziness, flickering of “flies” before our eyes? We believe that this is all from the load, fatigue, stress and lack of sleep. In general, a common thing. But these can be signs of hypoxia – a lack of oxygen to the brain. However, if the above symptoms have become more frequent, our expert advises not to postpone a visit to a neurologist, since the innocent symptoms that do not inspire, can be a harbinger of narrowing of the carotid artery. This artery according to which the brain basically receives blood. In the case of its blockage, or migration of a fragment of an atherosclerotic plaque, an ischemic stroke develops, which can lead to a loss (and sometimes irreversible) of many vital functions, and sometimes to death.

There is truth in the legs

Sometimes, atherosclerosis does not affect the vessels of the heart, but it greatly damages the vessels that feed the lower limbs. Here, the clinical manifestations of the disease become very diverse. The main complaint in such cases, according to Grigoryan, is pain in the area of the lower leg when walking or climbing the stairs. Often, the pain in the lower leg when walking we bind more than the weight, a sedentary lifestyle, while the matter can be completely different.

The second important feature is increased confinence of the legs. In such patients, even on a warm day, limbs remain cold to the touch; And in men it is also possible to fall in hair from the front surface of the lower leg. And that’s not all. In some cases, atherosclerosis of the vessels of the lower extremities (with a certain localization of the pathological process), it causes impotence. Of course, all these symptoms do not develop simultaneously, because the process of atherosclerotic lesion of the vascular wall is usually gradual. But if you do not pay attention to the warning signals that our body sends in time, you can bring the situation to a critical one. And then the only way to preserve the patient’s life will be amputation of the limb. Therefore, the expert advises timely to seek a specialist consultation, not relying on the opinion of neighbors, colleagues and the World Wide Web.
